Our four season porch project is wrapping up. Hurray!
This project began last June. Slowly but surely we watched our little outdoor party patio turn into an indoor extension of our home.
Before:
As you all remember, the porch was previously outside. With a (pretty rotted) roof. We started removing the roof over the summer. By the time the tree fell we were done with the demo. Of course.
The concrete slab was adjusted, and a new slab was laid for a entry point. We kept the pillars because LOOK AT THEM. They’re gorgeous. We determined we could work them into the room so that is what we did.
The frame went up next as well as the walls and windows. The new roof was laid and siding put on. It was incredible to see the room come together. & so exciting to realize we would soon have another room in the house.
I find it incredible how much the addition looks like it has always been a part of our home. From the outside it is exactly what we wanted. I couldn’t have imagined a better fit!
The inside took a bit longer to complete. It took months for us to manage insulation, electric, walls, drywall, ceiling, painting, flooring, etc. We did as much work as we could ourselves, therefore everything took longer. There was a lot of weekend warrior work being done and a lot of long days and nights. but for everyone out there who owns a home – you know how this stuff works! Its a process. You have to take it day by day.
So here we are. Walls are up and painted. Electrics done. Ceilings done. Floor is done.
So what does that mean?
It’s time for the big reveal! I wish I had a bus I could pull away from the house or a massive oversize photo of before and after.
Our new four season porch, from the beginning:
**I had to include these photo. I dont recognize this house! How far we’ve come.
Ta da!
I will have a better breakdown of the room in another post, with more pictures, but you get the gist! I really like taking photos in the daylight so count on another post this weekend.
The plants at the corners of the pillar are, we think, devil’s ivy. We have them there so they cascade down the pillars. They need some time to grow!
We have to put some art on the walls and add a blanket or two but for the most part this room is going to be minimalist and cozy. T fell asleep in there last night so I think it’s doing it’s job so far.
